About our Tournament Director - Matt Savage

College Poker ChampionshipTM is honored to have Matt Savage as our volunteer Tournament Director. Matt has directed major poker tournaments throughout the United States as well as abroad and is currently the Tournament Director of the World Series of Poker. He is the founder of the Tournament Directors Association (TDA) and has been instrumental in standardizing tournament rules throughout the world. He has volunteered his services to College Poker ChampionshipTM 2005, so you can be assured of first class tournament.

Colleges have a fine poker playing tradition, and poker is often an integral part of campus life. Fraternity houses are famous for their poker games and off-campus cigar shops offering poker card nights are a growing trend. With the explosion of online poker and the success of The 1st Annual College Poker ChampionshipTM it seems natural to hold a another tournament where poker-playing students from all colleges can come together and test their skills against each other, while competing for huge scholarship awards.

College Poker ChampionshipTM has not for profit objectives and our goals include:
  • Searching for the best Texas Hold 'em, No Limit college poker player in the world
  • Supporting students' educational endeavors with huge cash scholarships
  • Supporting the use of poker as a strategic learning tool among students

The 2nd Annual College Poker ChampionshipTM

The 2nd Annual College Poker ChampionshipTM is an online Texas Hold 'em No Limit poker tournament series, open exclusively to registered university college students worldwide. The winner can truly claim the title of
"THE BEST TEXAS HOLD"EM, NO LIMIT COLLEGE POKER PLAYER IN THE WORLD"

collegepokerchampionship.com and royalvegaspoker.com are NOT encouraging gambling by students. We are however looking for the world's top student poker players. That's why entry into the tournament is still ENTIRELY FREE, with all events being played with tournament chips. ABSOLUTELY NO PURCHASE IS EVER REQUIRED by either collegepokerchampionship.com or our sponsor royalvegaspoker.com.

We are awarding cash scholarships and charitable donations that will allow students to fund their educational endeavours.

The tournament runs for just over eight months. There will be 37 qualifying rounds known as "Super Satellites" with $500 in scholarship awards each week. They will be played every Sunday at 4 PM EST; with the first Super Satellite being played on Sunday, August 29, 2004, and the last Super Satellite being played on Sunday, May 8, 2005.

Each Super Satellite gives you the opportunity to secure a place in the Satellite Event, because the TOP 10% of players in each Super Satellite qualify for the Satellite Event. The Satellite Event will be played on Sunday, May 15, 2005 at 4 PM EST. It offers $5,000 in scholarship awards and the TOP 20% of players in the Satellite Event secure a place in the Online Final.

The Online Final will be held on May 22, 2005 at 4pm EST. Players who place 11th to 80th will share in $15,500 of scholarship awards, while players who place 1st to 10th will share $94,500 in scholarship awards. The winner will be taking home an outstanding $41,000 and as an added feature in the Online Final, charitable donations amounting to $10,000 will be made to any charity or organization, designated by players placing 1st to 10th.

ZIP, ZILCH, ZERO! Entry into the tournament is ENTIRELY free, and no purchase is EVER required by collegepokerchampionship.com or by our sponsor, royalvegaspoker.com.


Who is eligible?
  • Participants must be enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student (full or part time) at a 2-year, 4-year or graduate school, which is a recognised and accredited institution for any period during the 2005 academic year. (Both full time AND part time students are eligible).

  • Being alumni of a university does not make you eligible for tournaments or awards unless you are enrolled as a student for any period during the 2005 academic year.

  • Students must be at least 18 years of age to participate.

  • The scholarship awards are divided into three parts:
    • $110,000 in scholarship awards to students who place in the TOP 10 in the Online Final.
    • $5,000 in scholarship awards to students who place in the TOP 30 in the Satellite Event.
    • Weekly $500 scholarship awards to students who place in the TOP 50 in a Super Satellite event.
    These scholarship awards total $135,000.

  • Each student is eligible to designate one charity or university club to receive a charitable donation based on their successful ranking in the Online Final. The organization designated by the student will be verified as a recognized entity before the donation is paid. Only one organization can be designated during the registration process and cannot be changed once it is submitted. These donations will be made after June 30, 2005 and not later than July 31, 2005. 
  • Scholarship awards for the TOP 10 students in the Online Final will only be distributed after verifying a student's eligibility through the receipt of official student transcripts directly from the university. These awards will be made after June 30, 2005 and not later than July 31, 2005.
  • Student and university eligibility will be verified on receipt of a student's certified university transcripts. Transcripts need to be mailed directly by the university to College Poker Championship, c/oSCIUS Corp/NI Solutions, 1550-B 16th Avenue. Units 1-4, Richmond Hill, Ontario, L4B 3K9, Canada.
